MORE ABOUT OUR BENEFICIARIES:

H18 Foundation – Refugees
H18 Foundation run a social upliftment programme employing and upskilling refugee women. During Covid-19 this was expanded to supplying food parcels to 57 families in Joe Slovo township in Cape Town, the community many of the women live in. Refugees in South Africa are especially hard hit as they are not eligible for government social grants or emergency relief, and have few rights.

Union of Jewish Women – Children
Projects support at-risk children and infants at creches, educare centres, food kitchens and neonatal hospital wards in impoverished communities. During Covid-19 these partnerships, developed over many years, provide excellent networks to support and feed these vulnerable and often destitute young people who depend on the Union of Jewish Women for their most basic needs.

Souper Troopers – The Homeless
Over 8000 homeless people live on the streets of Cape Town, South Africa. They are often overlooked for government programmes. Now hungrier than ever and as winter arrives, they need our help to eat.  Souper Troopers commit to feeding and supporting the homeless in Cape Town –  before, during and beyond Covid-19.

Envirochild – Elderly and Disabled
This project feeds over 1000 people from the Hangberg community, in Hout Bay, Cape Town, weekly. Vulnerable families that depend on one income per household are impacted by the lack of work caused by lockdown and retrenchments. Food parcels distributed comprise staples as well as fresh produce to boost immune systems.

This event is being run by Mensch, in support of the South African Jewish Response to Covid-19 & Beyond campaign. For more info click here.
