Craig Dogon

If you're the smartest person in the room... you're in the wrong room.

After matriculating from King David Linksfield, Craig studied to be a chartered accountant at WITS, thereafter completing his articles at Deloitte. A serial entrepreneur at heart, it didn't take long for him to leave the corporate environment and get involved in the start-up space.

Community Hours, being a start-up social enterprise, ticks all the boxes for Craig as it allows him to combine his skills learned from business with his passion for uplifting those less fortunate than ourselves.

Community Hours is a community based online portal that facilitates and manages community service hours for teens, parents, teachers, schools, active citizens and accredited non-profit organisations. It offers out of the box volunteering opportunities to truly engage South Africans and to encourage sustainable volunteering and active citizenship.

The core of the programme is to match volunteers to volunteering opportunities. Via the web portal, volunteers can search, select and book to volunteer. Community Hours then does the rest - it manages the booking, verifies the hours, provides data to parents and teachers, and provides the learners with a digital recording and reporting mechanism if required by that learner's school. Community Hours takes the admin out of community service. One can log, track, view volunteering hours, print reports and digital certificates - all online.
