Dani Jankelowitz

Carer, Fundraiser

I get up every day and know that I am making a difference in a child’s life and in their future, nothing more motivating than that.

Having attended Kind David Linksfield, Dani completed her undergraduate degree in Sociology at the University of Western Ontario, Canada and her Post-Graduate Diploma in Management at Wits Business School. She worked as an HR Manager for an IT company for 7 years and after her second son was born, she ran her father's import business. Dani began volunteering for Atlantic Hope and then joined as the administrator and fundraiser. She was ecstatic to finally be able to combine her business skills with her passion for social change (and babies!).

Established in 2010, Atlantic Hope is a safety house for vulnerable babies, providing temporary and immediate placement within a safe and loving environment. Basic developmental, physical and mental care is provided and medical needs prioritised. Babies are fed, kept warm, and given affection. Atlantic Hope is legally approved to house a number of babies at one time providing care whilst legal proceedings determining the child's future are being conducted. The home serves as an immediate and temporary safe-haven for newborns and infants who have been abandoned, removed from their parent's care, or are awaiting adoption. Atlantic Hope believes that every child should have the best possible start in life.
