Who is Nosi?
Nosi worked in the kitchen at The Sinai Academy for 12 years until 2019. Every day she helped to prepare delicious food for all the students and cleaned classrooms after school. She was kind and caring and loved all the children. Tragically, in mid 2019 Nosi was badly injured in a fire and nearly lost her life. She spent many weeks in hospital and is still receiving treatments. Her home was also badly damaged in the fire.
2020 Vision
In 2020 the Sinai Mensch Club was started. This group of students at Sinai wants to help make the world a better place, starting right here with our Sinai Family and community. Our goal is to raise money to rebuild Nosi’s home and so that she can have a safer, happier place to live. To achieve this, we are collaborating with Mensch and Ikhayalami who together run Project Bayit. Read below to find out more about Project Bayit.
Building Hope Together
The students of Sinai Mensch club cannot do this alone. We hope that the news of this campaign spreads far and wide and that Nosi’s story touches many hearts, so we can raise the money we need to help her.
What is Project Bayit?
Project Bayit is a collaboration between Mensch, a South African Jewish social change organisation and their partner Ikhayalami. Together they connect those in need of a home, with those that can help them, to build a home they can be proud of. Once we have raised the required funds, Project Bayit will work with us and Nosi to build her a safe, secure home that is flood resistant and fire retardent. A home she will own, and will be an asset for her.
