A Book Club with a Difference
A Book Club with a Difference
The ThoughtREADERS’ Book Club aims to deepen our understanding of South African and global social issues, through the vehicle of reading and peer-led discussion.
In the spirit of Jewish life and learning, it aligns with Mensch’s mission of further shifting the Jewish community’s sense of understanding of the world around us and encouraging us all to become more active citizens.
How it works
This Book Club experience can be a once-off, or a more permanent club model where a different book is read and discussed every couple of months. Each club has a HOST and MEMBERS (up to 8 people). As a HOST, you get to choose a book on a social theme meaningful to you; attract curiosity and discussion; and encourage people to read books outside their usual genres. Members for a Private/Closed Club could be your family, your friends (local and abroad) or even your current book club. Alternatively, you can host a Public/Open Club where we help invite members. If you prefer to be a member, look out for Club Reads on our social sites and newsletters. >> read more here

testimonials
It was wonderful to get together with a diverse group of people, some of whom I didn’t know, and discuss our thoughts on this book. No one was judgmental of anyone’s opinions even though it may have differed. I was nervous at first, as being a host took me out of my comfort zone. I’m looking forward to hosting or being a participant again.
“It was a beautiful experience. I met wonderful people and we chatted intimately about compassion and justice.
A privilege. Such a worthwhile venture. A really a wonderful project.”
